Having been placed at number 22 of all German golf courses by the readers of the German Golfmagazin, the Kölner Golfclub nevertheless belongs to the younger German clubs as it was founded in 2012 only. The venue is located in the west of the city and yet only 8,000 meters beeline from Cologne’s famous cathedral, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the greatest architectural achievements of Christianity.
The extensive club grounds are integrated into the outer green belt of the city and impresses with its extraordinary design: a gently modelled landscape with hills, large ponds and hundreds of flowers and shrubs. At the same time, golf course designer Heinz Fehring oriented himself towards classical links and parkland courses.
With a total of 45 holes, the Kölner Golfclub is the largest golf course in North Rhine-Westphalia. The club’s two 18-hole courses and the 9-hole short course have been designed along the philosophy "from simple to challenging" and offer a nice variety of possible combinations: The ‘Pitch Course’ with 9 holes (PAR 27) is ideal for practicing approach shots while the ‘Links Course’ (PAR 63) is more suitable for quick and easy game at any occasion. The ‘Championship Course’ (PAR 74, finally, poses a real challenge for those seeking to test their limits.
The Kölner Golfclub’s driving range is playable from both sides and allows independent training all year round regardless of weather conditions given the 65 covered bays plus six heatable bouncing boxes on the north side. The south side is exclusively reserved for club members as well as teams and youth training. There is a large indoor green for putting and chipping as well as other indoor bats for continuous practice. A putting and a chipping area as well as two great exercise greens complement the outdoor training facilities.
The driving range also harbours the very first German Taylormade Performance Lab (Fitting centre), a golf clubs shop including manufacturing and a premium PGA golf school.
Visitors who have a taste for honest cuisine will enjoy our club house’s menu – from Mediterranean-infused German dishes catering to the taste of committed sportspeople to serving carefully composed multi-course fine dining menues. Of course, the spacious furnishings of the club house also accommodates those who wish to celebrate rushing parties, hold an effective meeting or or sleep peacefully in one of the 34 modern rooms on course, including the premium suites of the five star plus cruise ships of MS Europa and MS Europa 2.
