INTRODUCING NEW WLG MEMBER GOODWOOD

Award winning golf venue in Sussex joins community of quality and values

Golf At Goodwood is home to two picturesque 18-hole golf courses, which offer golfers of all abilities a tremendous variety of game.

Sport has played a pivotal role in the development of the estate, with golf, cricket, motor racing, horseracing and flying, ever since the 1st Duke of Richmond chose Goodwood for his hunts in the 1690s. The first ever golf round played at Goodwood was in 1901 when the 6th Duke of Richmond opened the course on the Downs above Goodwood House, even though it was not until 1914 that the place evolved into a serious venue for golfers, when legendary golf architect James Braid to re-design the course.

Rising steeply from the clubhouse, The Kennels, up towards Goodwood Racecourse perched high on the South Downs, the Members' Downs Course gives golfers incredible views across Chishester and the surrounding countryside. It consists of fast-running fairways, undulating greens and dramatic changes of elevation. Despite having undergone renovation by leading golf architect Tom Mackenzie to meet modern standards, it still remains in character with its tricky doglegs and long sweeping greens, which are both a treat and a challenge to true golf fans.

Designed by the renowned golf architect and player, Donald Steel, the Park Course winds effortlessly around the beautiful 18th Century parkland surrounding Goodwood House. The easy to walk course may seem less of a challenge, but as it meanders through woodland and tree lined fairways to closely guarded greens, it demands accuracy, rather than brute force and its tricky switchbacks and devilish bunkers are enough to keep any golfer on their toes.

Post golf, the choices are endless, with a spa and gym to enjoy, The Goodwood Bar & Grill and the award winning Goodwood Hotel. Ranked in The Top 20 Stay & Play Venues by Golf Monthly, Goodwood makes for the perfect golf destination in West Sussex for a weekend getaway.
